CATIA Silva

Catia studied Physiotherapy in Porto, Portugal and finished her degree in 2009. She was born in Madeira Island and moved to England in 2014 and has worked as a physiotherapist here ever since.

 

Catia’s great passion is to help people to heal and to find a healthier lifestyle. She understands that it is important to find the assessment and treatment approach that will work for each individual and their particular need at that time. For this reason, Catia has extended her specialist physiotherapy skills with further post-graduate training to include treatment for Jaw Pain (TMJ) dysfunction, Mezieres method (functional postural re-education), Craniosacral therapy, Acupuncture for Physiotherapists, Kinesio-Taping, Mulligan Mobilisations and Paediatric and Adolescent disorders.

 

Clinical techniques

Catia goes the extra mile for her patients and her reassuring manner puts patients at ease straight away. Through many hours of extra training she has developed an extensive tool-kit of assessment techniques and 'hands-on' fascial release, soft tissue and manual skills which she uses in treatment.

Electro-Acupuncture

Catia uses 'Electro-Acupuncture' in her sessions. This is often a more effective, variation of traditional acupuncture where fine needles are inserted into acupoints and connected to a device that sends a gentle electrical current between them. It works by stimulating nerves and influencing bodily systems to release endorphins, neurotransmitters, and hormones, which helps reduce pain and inflammation. It is particularly beneficial for acute pain and spasm and chronic conditions. ​​
